The pleasure was of course seeing Green Day at the SECC in Glasgow on Monday 19th October. I would love to be able to have a photo pass to a event like this. Both the challenges and achievements of getting that great photo to sum up the nights events is intriguing. That aside the night was great. It’s scary how one man (or band) can have such a control over such a large audience. This I suppose comes from the enjoyment of doing something you love and how people show appreciation with what you do. It’s a bit like design work (both are creative and entertaining). Although I have been trying to design work for a while now, I never really believed in myself and that is where my downfall is.

Quite frankly this year has been the worst ever. Now I’m having to go back to an old retail job I left to start my career. But I’m looking forward to this for a few reasons. The main one is so I can buy some web hosting and start creating work and let people see it. Why do art work if no one gets to see it!? I believe I have something different but don’t shout about it. Something that I need to change. I’m not going to stop doodling, I have my A5 sketch book ready for the train journeys and have this little book I found the other day buy accident.

Stuck in the kids section was an un-coated hardback book (something I thought a little odd in the kids section) called ‘Rules of the Red Rubber Ball’ by Kevin Carroll – ISBN 1-933060-02-6. I would totally recommend this book if you feel a little lost (like being unemployed and not sure what to do). I don’t want to talk about it too much because you just need to read it.

I can not stress this enough how much this little book has helped me get things into perspective. I will keep it next to my Mac if I ever loose site of MY little red rubber ball.

Unfortunately today I have also not passed my driving test. This is due to 2 little faults. It was a really good drive apart from an extremely awkward left reverse park and my clutch lifting a little to high to make me speed-up coming to a mini roundabout. I drove really well though so I’m staying positive and looking at my little red rubber ball and what it means to me. I’ll need it because there is a stupidly long waiting list for the next free appointment in December!!!

Really like the idea to this.

Things have gotten me down lately. Job hunting really isn’t a lot of fun. I never thought it would take this long. I just want to work … I’m willing to work… I’ll give it my all to work… but that doesn’t seem to mean anything now. I’m obviously doing something wrong, and I think my confidence levels are very low, which maybe might have an effect on how I approach things. I’m desperately trying on build this, but some time’s I’m not sure where to look. I want to do some training but I can’t afford it, I want to go to see different place’s but can’t afford it, I want to make some art but I’ve lost my confidence and can’t afford to get things printed.

I’ll keep plodding along, there has to be something out there that I can do. I just want to be happy in my role and whatever that is, hopefully it will benefit other people. Giving-up seems like it’s the easy option, and that can’t be the only solution. Good and exciting things are never that easy. It’s all a part of the journey isn’t it?

Have to admit I’m not really good in these kinda situations. I can imagine me hiding behind the other 19 people who won tickets too. If I have my camera I’ll hide behind that. I can just annoy everyone by taken lots of pictures. I wouldn’t know what to say to these people! I’ve just never won anything before but maybe it’ll be character building!!!

I’m not sure if I’m making myself clear so I’ll explain things more if needed.

* Improving your artwork
* Improve communication skills
* Constructive criticism
* Produce unique creative work

.. and of-course have a bit of fun.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have built in smart guides? Just think how easy it would be to avoid people in the street. It would be very handy whilst learning to drive, reversing round corners and things. Just think if everyone had built-in smart guides, no-one would need ‘cmd z’! Just a thought.
